Nach einem siebten Platz beim Finale der FIM Endurance Weltmeisterschaft konnte das Van Zon Boenig Motorsportschool Penz13.com-Team den Vize-Weltcupsieg in der Stocksport-Klasse einfahren. Mit der von Teamchef Rico Penzkofer eingesetzten BMW S1000RR donnerten Michal Filla (CZE), Gregory Fastre (BEL) und Arie Vos (NED) zum siebten Rang im Rennen und damit zum Vize-Titel.

Das Rennen selbst gestaltete sich sehr gut. In der Anfangsphase klassierte sich Vos sogar kurzzeitig auf dem zweiten Gesamtrang, doch war der gegen die Superbikes der EWC-Klasse natürlich nicht zu halten. Ein Problem mit der Spritzufuhr führte später dazu, dass Fastre die Maschine eine halbe Runde lang an die Box zurückschieben musste. Davon ließ man sich aber nicht beeindrucken, fuhr konstant eine schnelle Pace und holte am Ende den Vize-Weltmeistertitel.

Für das Team Boenig Penz13.com mit Marc Wildisen (SUI), Matti Seidel und Steve Mizera stand der Auftritt in der Wüste Katars unter keinem guten Stern. Nach nur 50 Runden musste das Trio mit einem technischen Defekt die Segel streichen.

Rico Penzkofer, Teamchef: "Natürlich hätten wir zum Saisonabschluss gern noch einmal auf dem Podest gestanden, aber ich denke, dass wir 2011 auch so ein starkes Jahr gezeigt haben. Das Problem mit der Spritzufuhr war ärgerlich, aber wir waren die meiste Zeit über die Schnellsten da draußen. Wir sind jetzt Vize-Weltcupsieger und das ist doch schließlich was. Nächstes Jahr greifen wir dann die nächst bessere Platzierung an."

Penz13.com gains runner-up spot in Superstock Endurance World Cup

A 7th spot at the finals of the 2011 FIM Endurance World Championship in Qatar was enough for the Van Zon Boenig Motorsportschool Penz13.com Team to gain the runner-up spot in the Superstock-category. With the BMW S1000RR of Rico Penzkofer the riders Michal Filla (CZE), Greogry Fastre (BEL) and Arie Vos (NED) classified on 7th, which was enough to gain the vice-title.

The race itself unfolded pretty good and in the early stages Vos was able to run on second spot overall for a short time, but of course Penz13.com-Team wasn't able to hold this against the tuned Superbikes of the EWC-class. A problem with the fuel supply forced Fastre to push his bike for half a lap back to the pits. But riders went back out on track and showed a constantly fast pace to earn the runner-up spot in the end.

Team Boenig Penz13.com with Marc Wildisen (SUI), Matti Seidel and Steve Mizera had to retire early with a technical problem.

Rico Penzkofer, Team boss: "Of course we would have liked to be on the podium in the last race of the year but I also think we showed a strong season 2011. The problem with the fuel supply was a pity, but we have been the fastest out there most of the time. We got the runner-up spot and this is satisfying. Next year we will aim for a higher goal."
