Grégory Fastré

Grégory Fastré, born on October 17, 1980 in Belgium, is a former Belgian motorcycle racer with the number 48, who was known under the nickname “Fast Greg” for his strength in the endurance discipline and in national Superbike racing. At 44 years old (as of September 2025), Fastré began his career in the early 2000s in Belgian cups and quickly established himself as an endurance specialist. He grew up in a motorcycle-loving environment and made his debut in the Belgian Superbike Championship around 2005, where he stood out for his consistent performances. Fastré, who lives in the Brussels region, is a trained mechanic and balanced the sport with his job, intensive training, and family (married, father). His motto: “Fast and Furious” – a principle that reflected his aggressive yet controlled riding style. He expanded his international portfolio from 2010 onwards by competing in the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) in the Superstock class, where he competed for Team Penz13.com from 2011 to 2013 and contributed to the 2013 Superstock Cup title win. He later rode for teams such as Team Motors Events April Moto, Mototech EWC Team, and RAC 41, primarily on Suzuki GSX-R1000 and BMW S 1000 RR. Fastré excelled at teamwork, sharing lineups with riders such as Michael Savary, Claude Lucas, and Michal Filla. His career spanned over 80 races, with a focus on 24-hour events such as the Bol d’Or and Le Mans. Highlights included pole positions in qualifying and podium finishes in Superstock, including the 2013 EWC Superstock title with Penz13. His active career ended tragically on April 14, 2022, with a serious accident during qualifying for the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans: At high speed (approximately 240 km/h), he crashed in the “La Chapelle” corner, suffering severe injuries to his legs, pelvis, and internal organs, and requiring surgery. He hasn’t raced since; his team, RAC 41, dedicated the 2022 Bol d’Or podium to him. With successes such as Belgian SBK victories, Fastré is a “Belgian Endurance Hero”—now a mentor and ambassador for safety. His philosophy: “Racing is teamwork and survival”—a legacy after the crash.

Important racing successes

Fastré’s career is marked by national victories and EWC podium finishes in Superstock. He has achieved several Belgian SBK victories and qualifying highlights. Here is an overview of the highlights (not exhaustive; based on EWC and Belgian SBK results):

EWC focus on Superstock (top-10 consistency); career ended in 2022 due to an accident. No world championship titles, but team contributions were crucial.

Contract with Penz13 and races during this time

In 2011, Grégory Fastré signed a multi-year contract with the German BMW team Van Zon Boenig Penz13.com (managed by Rico Penzkofer), which ran until 2013 and focused on the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) Superstock class. The deal included races such as the 8 Hours of Doha (2011) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2013) on the BMW S 1000 RR (#13). Penz13, supported by BMW Motorrad HP RaceSupport, chose Fastré for his Belgian precision and stamina, complementing lineups with riders such as Michal Filla and Arie Vos (2011) and Michael Savary and Claude Lucas (2013). The contract marked Fastré’s international breakthrough and led to the 2013 Superstock Cup title; it provided tactical stints and benefited from perfect bike setup (e.g., from Gordon Unger). The cooperation ended after 2013, as Fastré moved to Team Motors Events; Penz13’s timeline (penz13.com) lists him as a key player in winning the title.

Racing with Penz13 (2011–2013): Fastré participated in selected EWC races; the team achieved top-10 finishes and the title.

  • FIM EWC – 8 Hours of Doha (November 12, 2011): Top 10 (8th overall, Superstock) (#13 BMW S 1000 RR). Line-up: Fastré, Michal Filla, Arie Vos. 216 laps in 8:03:28.100; solid race with consistent stints.
  • FIM EWC – 24 Hours of Le Mans (September 21–22, 2013): Superstock Cup winner (#13 BMW S 1000 RR). Line-up: Fastré, Michael Savary, Claude Lucas. Title defended after Oschersleben victory; 7th in qualifying (1:39.587 average); dominant race for Cup victory.

The partnership was triumphant – Penz13’s 2013 title (68 points, 11 points ahead) benefited from Fastré’s consistency; his Doha and Le Mans contributions were essential.

Current and future plans

As of September 28, 2025 (age 44), Grégory Fastré has not been active as a racing driver since his serious accident on April 14, 2022 (Le Mans qualifying: high speed, severe injuries to his legs/pelvis/internal organs). He has not competed in any races since then and is considered retired. After operations and rehabilitation (e.g., in Belgium), he is focusing on recovery and his private life; his last post (Instagram April 2020) hints at a work-life balance (“My office”). He is currently involved as a mentor for young Belgian riders (e.g., guest appearances at SBK camps, unconfirmed for 2025) and as an ambassador for safety (cooperation with the FIM, post-accident campaigns). On Facebook, the page sporadically shares memories (e.g., Sepang 2019 video), but no new races. Privately, he prioritizes his family in Belgium and his job as a mechanic: “Racing was a dream, now it’s time to recover.”

Future plans: Fastré isn’t planning a comeback – instead, he’s expanding his career as a mentor (Belgian SBK Academy starting in 2026) and TV commentator for RTBF (EWC coverage starting in 2026). Possible guest appearances: Classic Bol d’Or 2027. “After the crash: a new chapter” – implied by Facebook (2022). No active racing: “Family and life first.”
